Even though I am unemployed, my days are always too short. I want to do so many things and I end up doing half of them because I just don’t have TIME! If I only have a few more hours I would be able to read that book that’s just collecting dust on my work table. Or maybe I will have time for exercising.. Or more time for writing letters..
Is this happening to you too? 
Well, if not, please let me know the secret! But, if your days are too short, like mine, here are some advice how to make them longer.

1. Wake up one hour earlier.
Your reaction was probably: WHAAAT?? But, that’s the best way to make our day little bit longer. Usually, I wake up around 8 am, but I wouldn’t be any more tired if I wake up at 7 am.
Of course, we have to adjust our body to that change, so lets start with only 15 minutes earlier than usual.
So, tomorrow I will wake up at 7.45! Next day at 7.30, then 7.15, and then finally my goal: 7 am!

2. Make a plan.
I love making plans. They help me to stay focused. I always have too many ideas that I usually end up doing nothing. So, plans help me to remember everything I want.
When you wake up, before checking your emails or reading newspapers, on a piece of paper write five things you want to do that day and arrange them by priority. And then, after your breakfast, start with the first one!

3. Stay focused. 
If you think that you’re more effective by doing few things at the same time, you’re wrong. If you do only one thing, you will be more focused, and you will finish it much faster. This is good advice for me, because I usually do a bunch of stuff at the same time. That usually just makes me slower.
If you’re a blogger, then you’re probably spending too much time on social media. But that is what you have to do to succeed, right? Well, that’s ok, but you have to find some help. Use one of many programs to schedule your pins or tweets, find a website that can help you gain more followers, so you don’t follow people one by one, or schedule Facebook posts once a week. There is a lot you can do to make things easier for you.

4. Find time for what’s important
Do you have some important project that you wanted to start but still didn’t? Maybe write a novel or a cookbook, start your own business, open your Etsy store or something like that?

The best way to start is to put it into your daily schedule. If you have an afternoon off and you planned to do nothing, going to the cinema or just have coffee with friends, don’t do that today. Start with your project. You will feel great because you finally started with that. 
I have a few projects that I want to do, and it seems like I never come around to it. I want to start writing few short stories, for example. I have some ideas, but somehow I always have something “more important” to do. Well, lets stop with that. Do what you want, do what you like, do what’s important to you…

    I wake up around 7 o'clock because I have to work five days a week so I only have two free days during the week.. besides the vacations which are 28 days during one year in Estonia. and yeah, I also need more time to do everything I want to do 😛

  2. This is 110% me! I've recently started trying to get back into the "make a plan and stick to it" philosophy. The waking up early I'm doing because my eldest will be starting school in 10 days (meep?) Yesterday, I sat down and made a list of all the things that I want to get finished in the next few weeks, starting last night. It was tough for me to only stick to the things that are on my list, but I know it's going to benefit me in the long run.

    Here's hoping that your find more time as well!

    trudim se ne opterećivat glupostima nego odradit ono što mi je važno, a ako imam neki duži posao onda ga sama sebi 'najavim' i rezerviram termin 😉
    i stvarno bih istukla svakog tko kaže da mu je dosadno :-p

  4. i completely agree on the wake up earlier part. i definitely tend to get more done when my days are longer :). hehe try the frozen fruit when u get a chance. u might be nicely surprised! 🙂 i recommend the grapes…!

Hm, stvarno bih morala sljediti ove savjete, iako se već budim u sedam ili osam ujutro, no, doduše, ne vlastitom voljom, i obično kad želim biti ninja i raditi tri stvari odjednom, to me uspori. 😉 Moram se koncetrirati na pisanje. Možda će mi ovaj post pomoći u tome jer je odličan i puno pomaže. 🙂

  8. I find writing down a list of things I need to get done in a day really helps me plan out my days – so it's rare that I feel my days aren't long enough. But I use to feel there wasn't enough time in a day when I was in univeristy as a university student – thats because the workload was just too much for me to handle along with the stress :S

  9. plans are good. i like to have lists of things i wanna do throughout the day. even the simple everyday things like exercise or cook. and i cross them out as i do them. but i like the waking up earlier plan too!

  10. When I am trying to complete something I find it so difficult to focus, I am so easily distracted by other things. I have to have a plan made and have no one around to get things accomplished around the house. I have been on a break from work, so I have been getting up at 9:00AM, but next week work begins again for me and I will have to get up at 6:30am. I am going to start getting in bed a little earlier and getting up earlier every morning this week, to help get myself ready for those 6:30am wake ups.

  11. I totally need to listen to #2 and #3.. I have so many things I want to accomplish but when I try to do too many things at once, I just get overwhelmed and usually end up doing something else entirely! When I actually sit down and write a list of things to do, I accomplish most of what I wrote down, otherwise I tend to get a slight case of ADD! Great post!

  12. I read that it's best to wake up at the same time each day and just go to bed when you're tired. Eventually you won't even need an alarm because your body is used to waking up at the same time. I think this is important so that you're not dragging throughout your day or getting too hooked on caffeine to keep you going.

  13. I am pretty good about getting stuff done. So many of my friends are asking me when I ever sleep! But I do so much better when I actually do up a to-do list, however I fight this process so much – I have no idea why. But I love to get stuff done and check things off my list. I think I do better when I have limited time. When I’ve got the whole day and nothing planned, that’s when I am the least productive.
